Happy Canada Day!
Today I intended on taking Cade to the Silly Summer Parade, while Tyler slept off his night shift. It didn't happen. Cade has had this diaper rash for 4 days and it was getting worse so we headed out to the Medicentre. We saw a Dr. De Witt, who should be renamed Dr. Dim Witt. He glanced at his bum once and wrote a prescription. NO questions. I proceeded to fill him in on anything and everything that has been near Cade's bum or other body parts in the past week. He didn't even look at me. I then asked about possible side effects and he finally looked at me (like I was nuts) and said there are no side effects. I have NEVER heard of a medication with no side effects, so needless to say I'll be doing some reading prior to application. I spoke to a capital health nurse last night and she asked at least a dozen questions, all of which seemed relevant. I was not impressed with Dr. Dim Witt and won't be taking Cade there again.
By the way...I need comments. I get excited when I see a comment was left. So leave one, even if it has nothing to do with my updates. I'm starved for adult interaction.
Oh-and I just like this picture, it has nothing to do with anything. Happy Canada Day! (Funny thing is that it wasn't taken in Canada)

Okay...first of all, I find medi-center docs to be THE worst. THey just hand out drugs to shut you up -- they don't really care.
Secondly, is the rash getting any better. I find having them diaperless (as much as possible) and if you can, get their bums some sun and use cloth diapers and a washcloth instead of wipes. Seems drastic but it works!
Never go to a medi-center doctor unless there is absolutely no other option (just my humble opinion).
I found that for boys, the absolute best cure for diaper rash was to put lots of corn starch in their diaper. Clears it up really fast. You can't use this on girls though because they can develop a yeast infection from it.
P.S. I know what you mean about the comments. It gets discouraging without them. And I totally hear you on the whole adult interaction thing!
Congrats on the baby by the way!
Looks like you received a few comments :-) The corn starch works as far as I remember we used it on your brother as well as the diaper free idea. You can always call me you know, all I did all day was play poker. I'll call you tomorrow or today depending onwhen you look at this Luv ya.
Dido on the Medicenter but I suppose you didn't have much of a choice, you can always phone and complain.
PS still waiting for newest pictures :-)
Hi! Just stopping by from Bitetherabbit's post. I don't like medi-center's either. I once had this really fat recepsionist tell me I had never been there before when I had many times throughout my life.
My son had horrible diaper rashes especially when he was teehing his bum would all of a sudden just bleed, it was awful. Desitin is wonderful stuff expensive but great. Hope his little bum clears up.
Kris ... love the pics and that your humour shines through in your commentaries:)
Hmmmmm ... not a mother, so won't comment on things like rashes etc. I would have told you to go to the Medi Centre but to stay away from Dr Dim Wit ... obviously this would not have been great advice!
Sounds like Grandpa and baby have a special bond. Cade is lucky to have so many people around who love him.
Adult conversation ... let's see. We saw Madeline Peyroux last week ... music was phenomenal but I have never seen a performer sooo uncomfortable on stage .... still, nothing like hearing a singer, who appears to be the reincarnation of Billie Holiday, live.
We were in Jasper for the July long weekend (wedding) and of course didn't want to come home. I know you understand when I say it is a mountain (aka. BC) thang!
Keep up with the blog ... it's great to see the pics and read the updates. For those of us (i.e. me) who aren't great about remembering to check the site regularly, be shameless and send reminders (you should include Dr Dim Wit on your list ... tehehe!).
Cheers,
Malea
PS. Let's do coffee again soon!
